El objetivo del trabajo fue describir las características demográficas, clínicas e imagenológicas de pacientes caninos con alteraciones en las enzimas hepáticas atendidos en un Centro Veterinario de Lima-Perú, periodo 2019 - 2023. El diseño de estudio fue de tipo observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo. El muestreo fue no probabilístico de tipo censal. Se revisó un total de 116 historias clínicas, y se consideraron como variables las características: demográficas (sexo, razas, edad), clínicas (signos), bioquímica sanguínea (alanina aminotransferasa (ALT), aspartato aminotransferasa (AST), fosfatasa alcalina (FA)), y ultrasonografia. La base de datos se organizó en el Software Microsoft Excel (versión 16), se procesó y aplicó la estadística descriptiva con ayuda del Software Stata (versión 18). Las características demográficas más frecuentes fueron: sexo macho 56.03% (65/116), raza mestiza 52.59% (61/116) y edad adulta 44.83% (52/116). Los signos clínicos que predominaron en machos, hembras, raza mestiza y pura fueron: vómitos, diarrea, anorexia, dolor abdominal, decaimiento y fiebre. Los valores bioquímicos se mostraron elevados para las tres enzimas evaluadas, y variaron entre: AST 53-710 U/L, ALT 68-710 U/L y FA 105-1596 U/L. Por último, las características ultrasonográficas más importantes fueron: bordes regulares, aumento de tamaño, parénquima homogéneo y ecogenicidad aumentada. Se presume que el 10.34% (12/116) de pacientes estaban cursando la fase aguda por presentar calibre del vaso aumentado, ecogenicidad disminuida, tamaño del hígado aumentado y valores elevados de las enzimas (ALT; AST; y FA). Asimismo, el 9.48% (11/116) cursaba la fase crónica por presentar bordes irregulares, ecogenicidad aumentada, tamaño del hígado normal/conservado, parénquima heterogéneo.The objective of the study was to describe the demographic, clinical and imaging characteristics of canine patients with alterations in liver enzymes treated at a Veterinary Center in Lima-Peru, during the period 2019 - 2023. The study design was observational, descriptive, and retrospective. The sampling was non-probabilistic census type. A total of 116 medical records were reviewed, and the following characteristics were considered as variables: demographic (sex, races, age), clinical (signs), blood biochemistry (alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP)), and ultrasound. The database was organized in Microsoft Excel Software (version 16), descriptive statistics were processed and applied with the help of Stata Software (version 18). The most frequent demographic characteristics were: male sex 56.03% (65/116), mixed race 52.59% (61/116) and adulthood 44.83% (52/116). The clinical signs that predominated in both males, females, mixed and pure breed were: vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, abdominal pain, weakness and fever. The biochemical values were elevated for the three enzymes evaluated, and varied between: AST 53-710 U/L, ALT 68-710 U/L and FA 105-1596 U/L. Finally, the most important ultrasound characteristics were: regular borders, increased size, homogeneous parenchyma and increased echogenicity. It is presumed that 10.34% (12/116) of patients were in the acute phase due to increased blood vessel diameter, decreased echogenicity, increased liver size and elevated enzyme values (ALT; AST; and FA). Likewise, 9.48% (11/116) were in the chronic phase due to irregular borders, increased echogenicity, normal/preserved liver size, and heterogeneous parenchyma.
