Objetivo general: Mapear los estudios sobre los cambios en el aparato locomotor por el uso de la realidad virtual como intervención fisioterapéutica en pacientes con dolor crónico vertebral a través de la revisión de la literatura actual. Introducción: El dolor crónico vertebral es la principal causa de discapacidad física, produce cambios a nivel del trofismo muscular, rango de movimiento y fuerza muscular. La realidad virtual es un novedoso tratamiento que permite al usuario sumergirse en un ambiente artificial con fines fisioterapéuticos. Las mediciones que se evalúan se caracterizan por mostrar un resultado objetivo. Sin embargo, existe poca información referente a este tipo de cambios en esta población. Criterios de inclusión: Se incluyeron estudios experimentales y cuasiexperimentales, así como, estudios de pacientes con dolor crónico vertebral, realidad virtual en los siguientes idiomas: inglés, español, portugués. Métodos: Estudio de revisión de alcance basado en las guías PRISMA-ScR. Las bases de datos a utilizar fueron PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus y MEDLINE; la búsqueda se realizó desde el 25 de Agosto del 2024 hasta el 13 de Septiembre del 2024. Resultados: Se obtuvieron 341 artículos de los cuales se seleccionaron 9 estudios que incluyeron 414 participantes que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión, de los cuales siete fueron estudios controlados aleatorizados, uno experimental cruzado y uno cuasiexperimental. Los tipos de dolores crónicos evaluados fueron cervical y lumbar, los tipos de realidad virtual que se utilizaron fueron inmersivas en dolor cervical crónico y no inmersivas en dolor lumbar crónico. Conclusiones: En este estudio la zona de dolor crónico lumbar fue la más revisada y como variable predominante fue el rango de movimiento, seguido por, el trofismo muscular, la activación muscular, fuerza muscular y rendimiento muscular. La realidad virtual es más efectiva cuando se combina con otras técnicas terapéuticas.General objective: To map the studies on changes in the locomotor system due to the use of virtual reality as a physiotherapeutic intervention in patients with chronic vertebral pain through a review of the current literature. The variables evaluated are characterized by showing an objective result. However, there is little information regarding this type of changes in this population. Inclusion criteria: Experimental and quasi-experimental studies will be included, as well as studies that include patients with chronic vertebral pain, virtual reality, and the following languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese. Methods: Scoping review study based on the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The databases to be used will be PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus and MEDLINE; The search was carried out from August 25, 2024 to September 13, 2024. Results: 341 articles were obtained from which 9 studies were selected that included 414 participants who met the inclusion criteria, of which seven were randomized controlled studies, one experimental crossover and one quasi-experimental. The types of chronic pain evaluated were cervical and lumbar, the types of virtual reality used were immersive in chronic cervical pain and non-immersive in chronic lumbar pain. Conclusions: In this study, the area of chronic lumbar pain was the most reviewed and the predominant variable was ROM, secondly muscle trophism and finally muscle activation, muscle strength and muscle performance. Virtual reality is more effective when accompanied by another treatment technique.
