La presente estudio tuvo como principal objetivo, determinar el efecto del programa de empoderamiento familiar como factor protector de consumo del alcohol de las usuarias del CMS Comunitario de Arequipa. De acuerdo a los inconvenientes procedentes del consumo de alcohol en mujeres son resaltantes, llegando a ser actualmente en un problema de gran relevancia de salud pública a nivel mundial, nacional y local; sobresaliendo en especial los sistemas y regímenes desiguales o individuales en el entorno familiar, donde las mujeres pasan una buena parte de sus vidas, según Schuler, asemeja el empoderamiento como un transcurso a través del cual las damas aumentan su capacidad de conformar sus propias existencias y su ambiente familiar y social. Asimismo el paradigma es cuantitativo y el método empleado es el hipotético-deductivo, con el tipo de investigación explicativa, fundando relaciones de causa - efecto. El diseño de la investigación fue experimental de corte transversal. El procesamiento de datos es con el programa SPSS22, y la asociación de dimensiones y variables con el método de tablas de contingencia y la prueba de hipótesis con el estadístico chi² para muestras relacionadas. El tamaño de la muestra está determinado con el muestreo aleatorio simple, consiguiendo de este modo una muestra de 4 familias de las usuarias consumidoras de alcohol.The main objective of this research is to determine the consequence of the family empowerment program as a protective factor of alcohol consumption of the users of the community mental health center of Arequipa. According to the problems arising from the consumption of alcohol in women are of great importance, becoming today a serious public health problem at the global, national and local levels; particularly highlighting unequal or individual regimes or systems in the family environment, where women spend a good part of their lives, according to Schuler, identifies empowerment as a course by which women increase their capacity to shape their own lives and their family and social environment. In addition, the paradigm is quantitative and the method used is the hypothetical deductive, with the type of explanatory research, establishing cause effect relationships. The design of the research was experimental cross sectional. Data processing is with the SPSS22 program, and the association of variables and dimensions with the contingency table method and the hypothesis test with the chi² statistic for related samples. The sample size is determined by simple random sampling, thus obtaining a sample of 4 families of alcohol consuming users.
