La investigación abordará la problemática existente en la administración de oxígeno de alto flujo a pacientes con insuficiencia respiratoria en unidades de cuidados intensivos, evidenciando una brecha en el conocimiento y manejo de esta terapia por parte de los profesionales de enfermería. Para respaldar esta indagación, se integrarán dos teorías fundamentales: la Teoría de la Zona de Desarrollo Próximo (ZDP) de Lev Vygotsky; y la Teoría del Desarrollo Profesional. El objetivo general consistirá en determinar la relación entre el conocimiento y manejo de oxigenoterapia de alto flujo por parte de los profesionales de enfermería y la eficacia en la administración de esta terapia en pacientes con insuficiencia respiratoria en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de un Hospital Castrense en el año 2023. La metodología adoptada será de diseño no experimental, enfoque cuantitativo correlacional, diseño descriptivo y corte transversal. La población objetivo incluirá 210 enfermeros y enfermeras, con una muestra de 136 participantes para garantizar la confiabilidad y margen de error. La técnica empleada consistirá en la aplicación de dos cuestionarios diseñados para evaluar el conocimiento y manejo de oxigenoterapia de alto flujo, que serán validados y evaluados mediante revisión de expertos, prueba piloto y coeficiente de Cronbach. Estos instrumentos incluirán preguntas específicas sobre la Teoría de la Zona de Desarrollo Próximo, evaluando el Nivel Actual y Potencial de Desarrollo, así como dimensiones de la Teoría del Desarrollo Profesional, como Desarrollo Continuo, Competencias Técnicas e Interpersonales, y Adaptabilidad y Resiliencia.The research will address the existing issues in the administration of high-flow oxygen to patients with respiratory failure in intensive care units, highlighting a gap in the knowledge and management of this therapy by nursing professionals. To support this investigation, two fundamental theories will be integrated: Lev Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) theory; and the Professional Development Theory. The overall objective is to determine the relationship between nursing professionals' knowledge and management of high-flow oxygen therapy and the effectiveness of administering this therapy to patients with respiratory failure in the Intensive Care Unit of a Military Hospital in the year 2023. The adopted methodology will be non-experimental design, quantitative correlational approach, descriptive design, and cross-sectional study. The target population will include 210 nurses, with a sample of 136 participants to ensure reliability and a margin of error. The technique employed will involve the administration of two questionnaires designed to assess knowledge and management of high-flow oxygen therapy. These questionnaires will be validated and evaluated through expert review, pilot testing, and Cronbach's coefficient. The instruments will include specific questions about the Zone of Proximal Development Theory, assessing the Current and Potential Development Levels, as well as dimensions of the Professional Development Theory, such as Continuous Development, Technical and Interpersonal Competencies, and Adaptability and Resilience.
