El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar la relación entre el funcionamiento familiar y habilidades sociales en estudiantes adolescentes de una institución pública y una privada del distrito del Callao. La muestra estuvo conformada por 371 alumnos de nivel secundario de 12 a 17 años. Se utilizaron los instrumentos de APGAR Familiar y Escala de Habilidades Sociales (EHS). Los resultados evidenciaron una relación directa, de magnitud grande y significativa entre las variables de estudio (r = .329). También se encontró una relación directa y grande entre el funcionamiento familiar y la dimensión de Autoexpresión en situaciones sociales, y relaciones medianas con las otras dimensiones de la Escala de Habilidades Sociales. Se concluye que existe una relación entre las variables de funcionamiento familiar y habilidades sociales.The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between family functioning and social skills in adolescent students from a public and a private institution in the district of Callao. The sample was made up of 371 secondary school students aged 12 to 17 years. The Family APGAR and Social Skills Scale (EHS) instruments were used. The results showed a direct relationship, of large magnitude and significant between the study variables (r = .329). Furthermore it was found a direct and large relationship between the family functioning and the dimension of Self-expression in social situations, and medium relationship with the other dimensions of the Social Skills Scale. It is concluded that there is a relationship between the variables of family functioning and social skills.
