La inserción del PICC es una terapéutica segura y eficaz para tratamientos prolongados, nutrición parenteral, siendo de gran ayuda para el mantenimiento y control del neonato en la UCIN. Objetivo: Determinar los conocimientos y cuidados de enfermería en el manejo del catéter central de inserción periférica al recién nacido de la UCIN en un hospital en Essalud del Callao, 2024. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, correlacional y transversal. La población estará integrada por 36 enfermeras que laboran en la UCIN. Se aplicará dos instrumentos para la recolección de datos; un cuestionario para evaluar el conocimiento que serán validados y evaluados a través de una prueba piloto, y los resultados se evaluarán a través de la prueba como la Kuder - Richardson y el Alfa de Cronbach. La guía de observación para evaluar los cuidados de enfermería será validada a través del juicio de expertos con una validez p < valor 0.05 y una confiabilidad de Alpha de Cronbach con un valor de 0.79. Plan de análisis: Los datos serán registrados utilizando el paquete estadístico SPSS V 24 para su procesamiento y análisis, los resultados se registrarán en tablas y gráficos. Se utilizará la prueba independiente Chi cuadrada no paramétricas para las variables categóricas y ordinales, con un nivel de confianza del 95 % y una correlación con un valor de p < 0.05.PICC insertion is a safe and effective therapeutic measure for prolonged treatments, parenteral nutrition, being of great help for the maintenance and control of the newborn in the NICU.
