Introducción: La disfagia orofaríngea es una alteración en la preparación y traslado del bolo alimenticio como consecuencia de un accidente cerebro vascular. Es importante que el profesional utilice el electroestimulador neuromuscular como recurso cuando se realiza el tratamiento con ejercicios e ingesta de alimentos. Objetivo: Describir el uso de electroestimulación neuromuscular con ejercicios, e ingesta de alimento, en un paciente adulto mayor con disfagia orofaríngea post- accidente cerebro vascular, en un centro privado de Lima, desde octubre a diciembre del 2023. Descripción del trabajo: En la primera fase realizamos una evaluación del complejo orofacial. En la segunda fase aplicamos el uso de electroestimulación con ejercicios para favorecer la regulación de grupos musculares. En la última fase utilizamos electroestimulación con alimentos de distintas viscosidades y volúmenes. Principales Hallazgos: Al usar la electroestimulación regulamos la musculatura obteniendo una adecuada posición laríngea, para restablecer el mecanismo deglutorio que garantice el control del bolo alimenticio. Conclusiones: El uso de electroestimulación neuromuscular con ejercicios e ingesta de alimentos, se utiliza para optimizar el tono muscular y mejorar la flacidez. Permitiendo en cada fase la regulación muscular y posicionamiento laríngeo, logrando restablecer la función deglutoria.Introduction: Oropharyngeal dysphagia is an alteration in the preparation and transfer of the food bolus as a consequence of a stroke. It is important that the professional uses the neuromuscular electrostimulator as a resource when carrying out the treatment with exercises and food intake. Objective: To describe the use of neuromuscular electrostimulation with exercises, and food intake, in an older adult patient with post-strokeoropharyngeal dysphagia, in a private center in Lima, from October to December 2023. Job Description: In the first phase we perform an evaluation of the orofacial complex. In the second phase we apply the use of electrostimulation with exercises to promote the regulation of muscle groups. In the last phase we use electrostimulation with foods of different viscosities and volumes. Main Findings: By using electrostimulation we regulate the muscles, obtaining an adequate laryngeal position, to reestablish the swallowing mechanism that guarantees control of the bolus. Conclusions: The use of neuromuscular electrostimulation with exercises and food intake is used to optimize muscle tone and improve flaccidity. Allowing muscle regulation and laryngeal positioning in each phase, restoring swallowing function.
